Instant Locs refer to the act of creating fully locked dreadlocks instantly using the crochet method. This is the only method I use - no twisting or interlocking. It is best that you have at least 3 inches of hair before attempting an installation. If you have a mohawk or other cut, getting a shape up beforehand is a good idea as well.
