I only work with the Instant Locs method and the Crochet Method. These two terms represent the same method, and are NOT to be confused with Interlocking or Latch-hooking.
I do not offer the twist method, interlocking, latch-hooking, comb-coils, or any other method. I do not twist, braid, or style afterward.
Dread King will not be held responsible for any confusion if you are expecting us to use a method that we do not offer.
I will determine my ability to travel to you on a case-to-case basis. In some cases I will be working with several clients in an area, resulting in fewer travel fees per client. For a client requesting an individual trip, we will have a video consultation and work out the travel fees.
A down payment is required to book an appointment. This helps us cut down on cancellations and no-shows. If you miss your appointment and don’t give notification at least 48 hours before, your down payment will count as a late cancellation fee. To schedule another appointment, you’ll need to make a new down payment.
Methods of payment accepted include Cash, CashApp, Venmo, Zelle, and PayPal.

I am available for immediate appointments (within the next 2-3 days) if I am in your area. I will always be clear where I am available on the Availability and Booking page.
Time will vary dramatically depending on your hair needs. A simple root maintenance will take as little as 1 hour and a full installation will range from 6-14 hours or possibly longer for extensions. You will receive a time estimate after your form submission.
Wash or deep cleanse your hair 24-48 hours before your appointment. It should be dry by the time I arrive.
Do not use any conditioner or oils or any other product between this wash and your appointment. Your hair should be product-free.
Make sure you have a chair that sits medium to low height, allowing easy access to your head.
Make sure you have sufficient lighting- dark environments make your service difficult.
I love pets and kids! However, it is important to find childcare so that I can have your full attention, and remove hyper or aggressive pets from the environment during your appointment if possible.
I do not provide extensions, so if we will be using them you will need to buy them and have them ready for your appointment.
If located in San Antonio, TX. Dread King has a partnership with a hair salon in Thousand Oaks. We can use this salon to do your hair. For other clients who do not feel comfortable doing their hair at home, some options include: a hotel or Airbnb, a friend or family member’s home, outside in a park if the weather is favorable and the service does not take more than three house.
If you have to cancel your appointment, please give notification as early as possible so that I can adjust accordingly. Down payments are non-refundable for any cancelation less than 48 hours before the appointment, or especially for any no-show. This is especially important for appointments I travel to – because I often book other clients along my routes, and spend time and gas money traveling to you, the non-refundable down payment helps cover these expenses, time, and the likeliness that your time slot cannot be filled on such late notice, causing it to be wasted.
3-5 inches of hair is required to start your locs. However this is also affected by the requested size of the dreadlocks to be installed. The smaller the dreadlock, the shorter the length that is required and the larger the dreadlock, the longer your hair must be.
When locking your hair, expect some loss of length. How much depends on your hair type and thickness.
Yes! The crochet method fully locks your hair without the need for any products, so you are free to shower or swim.
Extensions can be seamlessly added to your existing locs to enhance their length. I do not provide extensions, so you will need to buy them and have them ready for your appointment. It is important to check that you buy the correct length, width, and amount of extensions, as well as try to buy human hair if possible.
It is recommended that you make sure you want your dreadlocks before getting them. While it is possible to comb them out, especially if they are new, this process is time consuming, difficult, and will pull a lot of hair out.
